By August 31, 2015blog, featured

Xavier Marzan has been with the Z Club NY family since the very beginning, and we love that he is still lending his passion and talent through his classes every single week! He loves what he does, and he loves that he gets to interact with people from all walks of life. He finds peace and inspiration through teaching. Here, he shares more about his journey and personal sources of inspiration…. —  by Yali Szulanski for Z Club NY.

WHEN DID YOU START DANCING?

I started dancing at the age of 12. I went to a dance audition to accompany my sister and ended up with a full scholarship!

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CONTINUE DANCING?

I hated dancing as a child, I just wanted to just chill in the streets, draw and play baseball. My parents were a huge part of it all. They kept me in dance and that kept me busy and it kept me out of trouble.

HOW DID YOU COME TO TEACH?

One day I was subbing a class for a friend,  and have been teaching ever since.

HOW DID ZUMBA® AND Z CLUB NY ENTER YOUR LIFE?

I got a call to audition for Z CLUB NY and I thought, “oh maybe I can write about this.”  I came in and did the audition, and I have been here ever since.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL WHEN YOU TEACH?

Teaching for me is like being in the ocean  – When you are in the water and you are looking around, all you see is the space around you,  and there is nothing in your mind. You are  just care free and so relaxed. There are no worries in the world . Well,  that’s how I feel when I teach!

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE COMMUNITY IN YOUR CLASSES?

I love my classes; I can talk to them about anything!

HOW HAS YOUR OWN PERSONAL JOURNEY IN LIFE SHIFTED THINGS FOR YOU?

It’s been an amazing experience. I love what I do. I always knew that I wanted to change peoples’ lives in some form – and I love that I am able to fulfill my dream of being ale to do it through dance and fitness.  I love interacting with people.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR JOURNEY SINCE YOU BEGAN UNTIL NOW?

I learned to cherish every moment you have with people; no matter who or what they are.
